Gluten-Free Pizza Recipes and More
This Weeks Blog
For this week’s blog post I thought it would be fun to talk about pizza recipes and recommendations. One of the biggest issues I faced when starting my gluten-free journey was finding quality pizza. I missed the ability to throw a Jack’s pizza in the oven when I didn’t want to take the time to cook. I missed going out and getting a pizza and it did not taste like cardboard. That is what led me to writing this week’s blog.
Why this is important?
People often don’t realize the amount of time and thought has to go into ordering food with dietary issues. Most restaurants have a limited menu or no dietary friendly menu at all. Which leads to individuals being left out of important events and quality time with friends and family.
What is it?
Gluten-free pizza is made using alternative flours instead of traditional wheat flour. This means that the dough is free of gluten. Which is a protein found in wheat, barely, and rye that gives dough its elasticity. Gluten-free does not have to mean flavor free.
Why Go Gluten-Free?
Celiac disease-a serious autoimmune condition where consuming gluten damage the small intestine
Gluten sensitivity– those who experience discomfort from gluten may find relief in a gluten-free diet
Health benefits-some individuals simply feel better when gluten is reduced from their diet
Lifestyle choices-many people are now embracing a gluten-free diet for various reasons. From digestion, increase energy, or even to try something new.

Homemade Pizza Crust Recipe
While some might not feel comfortable going out to eat with an allergen, I figured an easy way to include all readers would be to share an easy crust recipe. There are countless recipes online depending on ingredients and more. This one was one of the easiest I found and have used myself.
Ingredients
1 ½ cups gluten-free flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 tsp olive oil (plus more for brushing)
½ cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp active dry yeast
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt
Combine yeast into a mixture along with water and olive oil
Slowly mix everything together
If dough is still sticky, add a little bit more flour
Transfer dough to pan and press into desired shape
Evenly roll out dough and lightly brush with olive oil
Top with chosen ingredients
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown
Serve
